Heritage Statements
Heritage Statements
Heritage Statements are assessments of historic buildings or sites to support an application. It may also trigger a full report after planning permission is given. They are supposed to reflect the status of the project, but nowadays a very high level of recording is expected and each authority provides a checklist which varies between regions.
My part is to supply a comprehensive record of the fabric of the building and its development, to at least Historic England Level 2 and more often to Level 3. This can be used to guide the architect or planner as to what might be acceptable in terms of development.
Often Heritage Statements do not require site visits and the determination can be made from supplied photographs and plans. I do not supply planning advice or legislation as I have no background or qualifications in planning and the paradigms vary widely between planning authorities.
